VISCOUNT MANDEVILLE. Scottish, Reel (cut time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by William Morrison (c. 1770-1825). Viscount Mandeville was a title of the Montagu family. At the time Morrison published his collection (c. 1813) Viscount Mandeville was a young George Montagu (1799-1855), the fourteen year old son of William Montagu, 5th Duke of Manchester. As was customary, George held the title of Viscount Mandeville before he succeeded his father as Duke. George was a British peer and was a Tory Member of Parliament for Huntingdonshire from 1826-1837.
