WALSHE'S POLKA [1]. AKA - "Walsh's Polka (1)." AKA and see "Daly's Mill." Irish, Polka (2/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by John Walsh from near Kanturk, County Cork. He composed several slides and polkas that have entered tradition, naming them after local landmarks such as this old mill on the Brogeen River. In 1999 he was described (by Jackie Daly via Paul de Grae) as being in his 60’s, and as being a nice, quiet, shy man.
