WEST POINT JIG. AKA and see “Kent County Jig.” Canadian, Jig (6/8 time). Canada; Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA’BB’. Perlman (1996) believes this is probably a Cape Breton jig, however, it was once popular throughout Prince Edward Island, especially as a vehicle for the quadrille. Like the "West Point Reel" it may have been named for the coastal Prince County village of West Point. South-eastern New Brunswick musicians call the tune "Kent County Jig," after the east-central county in that province.
