WHISPERING WINDS. American, Reel (cut time). D Major. DDad tuning (fiddle). AB. "Whispering Winds" was composed by fiddler Thornton Spencer (1935-2017), a member of the Whitetop Mountain Band with his brother-in-law and fiddler Albert Hash, and Thornton's wife, Emily Spencer. The Whitetop Mountain Band was originally the name of Hash's band in the 1940's, but was reconstituted in the latter 1970's with an influx of younger musicians drawn to the music.
