WHO IS THAT KNOCKING AT THE DOOR? American, Minstrel air (2/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune appears in the mid-19th century music manuscript of Long Island ship captain and fiddler biography:Isaac Homan, one of a number of minstrel tune instrumetals in the collection. However, it is a different melody than the air to the Christy Minstels famous song "Stop that Knocking at the Door," from which (along with "Stop that Knocking") 'knocking at the door' became a minstrel trope.
