WILLIE TAYLOR'S POLKA. English, Polka (2/4 time). G Major ('A' part) & D Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Taylor {b. 1916} was a shepherd, and a fiddler and melodeon player from Wooler, Northumberland. Taylor was recorded playing the tune by Peter Kennedy in The Swan pub, Warenford, Northumberland, in June, 1954. The tune has been characterized as a rant, slow reel or schottische-like march, but has a different feel than the usual English style polka. The provenance is obscure, and may or may not have been composed by source Willy Taylor.
