Annotation:Wind on the Heath
WIND ON THE HEATH. Scottish, Pastoral Air (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Fiddler Bill Hardie credited the composition to Alec Sim of Birnam, Perthshire, who was the founder and for many years the conductor, of the Aberdeen Strathspey and Reel Society. Sim was the son of a fiddler and received early tutelage in the fiddle from James Macintosh of Dunkeld. However, as Nigel Gatherer points out, the tune was adapted and arranged by him based on David Young's melody "Hey to Cowpar/Hey to Couper," published in his 1734 Duke of Perth's MS.[1].
