The tune was entered twice into the c. 1810 copybook of Lincolnshire musician Thomas Sands; first as "Wright's Hornpipe" (No. 10) and later as "Duke of Norfolk's Hornpipe." Sands also has another, unrelated, hornpipe called "Wright's Hornpipe (3)."
