YORK FANCY, THE. AKA and see "Follow Me Lads (1)," "Lads of Baltimore," "Tom Thumb (2)." Scottish, Reel (whole and cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Fr. John Quinn finds a derivative but cognate version in Maurice Hime's Forty Eight Original Irish Dances Never before Printed (1804) as "Follow Me Lads (1)." The tune was entered into the 1826-1859 anonymous music manuscript entitled Melodist: A Collection of music in two volumes (No. 59, p. 32), probably from the state of Maine, under the title "Lads of Baltimore."
