BACK UP AND PUSH [2]. Canadian, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Attributed to Kirkton, Ontario, fiddler Ward Allen (1924-1965), who won contest after contest in the 1950's and who carved out a successful career for himself as a radio fiddler and recording artist. The tune was recorded by Allen as the 'A' side of a 1956 recording for Sparton Records, with his own composition "Maple Sugar" on the 'B' side. It was "Maple Sugar" that was to become Allen's most enduring composition and a Canadian hit.
Recorded Sources: Rounder 7002, Graham Townsend- "Le Violin/ The Fiddle."
