BAKASKIE. Scottish. Robin Williamson thinks the title may refer to Sir William Bruce of Balcaskie, the architect of Holyrood Palace, which stands in Edinburgh today (rebuilt between 1671 and 1679). The air appears in the Panmure MS #9454 Seventy-Seven Dances, Songs and Scots Airs for the Violin, c. 1675.
Recorded sources: Flying Fish, Robin Williamson - "Legacy of the Scottish Harpers, vol. 2."
