BANKS OF NEWFOUNDLAND [1]. AKA and see "Up the Pond." Canadian, Jig. D Major. Standard tuning. AABBCCDD. The melody was composed by Chief Justice Francis Forbes in 1820. March as well as jig versions have been popular. It has been the regimental march of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. "Up the Pond" is an alternate the title for the tune stemming from associations with the Royal St. John's Regatta.
