T:Bay-du-Vin Quadrille
T:As played by Fidel Martin
M:6/8
L:1/8
N:Probably was played on a fiddle tuned one tone down from the standard tuning.
N:This transcription aims to show how it would be played on a violin with
N: standard tuning. So it's one tone higher than the recording.
N:From an August 24, 1966, field recording of the playing of Fidel
N:Martin (1891-1976) of Berlin N.H., originally from Rogersville, NB, recorded
N:by folklorist Art Rosenbaum. Martin, a WWI veteran, had a repertory that
N:consisted of Acadian, Irish, American and French-Canadian tunes.

T:Bay-du-Vin Quadrille
T:(a simplified version)
M:6/8
N:1. This is a simplified version based on the Fidel Martin
N:recording. The aim here is just to give the basic melodic
N:structure of the tune, without any frills, ornaments or
N:variations. It’s not to be taken too “literally” or
N:seriously - for instance I put “gec c2c” for the second bar,
N:but it could just as well have put gcc ~c3; that would also
N:work.
N:2. F. Martin was probably playing on a fiddle tuned one
N:tone down from the standard tuning. This transcription aims
N:to show how it sounds on the recording; but to play it on a
N:fiddle with the standard tuning it may be a good idea to
N:transpose it up one tone.
