BELLS OF NEWPORT. The tune appears in the Murphy Manuscript (p. 20) written in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1790, the Gurden Trubull manuscript (Stonington, Conn.) of c. 180?, and in the Kingsley Manuscript (p. 22) of 1795 (where it appears as "The Bells of New York").
