BEN HILL [2]. AKA - "Kathleen O'Shea's." Irish, Hornpipe. G Major. Standard tuning. AA'BB'. Kathleen O'Shea-Maguire, referenced in the alternate title, is a former World Champion Irish step dancer, with whom the tune is associated. Séamus Connolly & Laurel Martin note that the famous Galway accordion player Joe Burke told Connolly the tune was discovered by Ballinakill, County Galway, fiddler Aggie White, who did not have a name for it. She and Burke decided to call it "Ben Hill" on the way to a performance in the 1960's, naming it after a small incline on the road near where Aggie and her husband Séamus Ryan lived.
