ALEXANDER MACKENZIE (1819-1852) was a violinist, a pupil of Sainton and Lipinski. He edited the National Dance Music of Scotland a series of three volumes issued in the 1840's and reedited and bound together in 1889. Mackenzie was also the leader of the band at the Theatre Royal in Edinburgh, and was the father of violinist and composer Sir Alexander Campbell Mackenzie.
