Biographical notes
JIMMY LYONS (1903-1977) was a fisherman and fiddler from Teelin/Teileann, southwest County Donegal. He was influenced at a young age by the lilting of his father, John, who was also a source of tunes for fiddler Frank Cassidy. Jimmy worked as a fisherman for much of his life in Ireland, but in 1950 he emigrated to the United Kingdom and settled in Rugby. In addition to being a skilled fiddler he had a local reputation as an excellent step-dancer.
