Prairie Dog

This tune was collected from Jesse James Abbott (1893-1978) of Toledo, Cumberland Co, IL by Garry Harrison on 19 September 1975. It is No. 196 in "Dear Old Illinois," Garry Harrison & Jo Burgess, Pick Away Press, Bloomington, IN (2007). Mr. Abbot's version is on the 1st CD of "Hear Old Illinois: The Dear Old Illinois 3-CD Set, " same publisher (2007). Garry Harrison recorded it on the Indian Creek Delta Boys LP "Late for the Dance," Prairie Schooner PSI-103 (1978). I recorded it on "Prairie Dog and Other Fiddle Tunes from the Midwest," Marimac 9039, cassette (1991). I am not aware of any other tune quite like this one.
