CORK AND SWEET MUNSTER. Irish, Air (4/4 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. The name Cork is derived from the Gaelic word coraigh, a swamp. Irish collector, historian and writer P.W. Joyce (1827-1914) remarks: "I have known this tune from my earliest days. There was a song to it of which I remember but one verse:--

I travelled this country round and round,
From city to city and seaport town;
But of all the fine places that ever I did see,
Cork and sweet Munster, ochone, for me. (Joyce)
