N:From Fiddlers' Companion:
N:This melody is a version of one of three unrelated families of
N:melodies entitled 'Petticoat Loose'. The first representative of this family
N:was published in John Johnson's Choice Collection of 200 Favourite Country
N:Dances, v5 (1748). It apparently became associated with
N:the previous tune, 'Breeches Loose', when the two were published on the same
N:page in Thompson's Compleat Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, v1 (1757).
N: -- see Fiddlers' Companion for more information.
