Find traditional instrumental music

Louis Blackwell, DSc, is a mostly self-taught fiddler, taking up the instrument in 1991 while living near Washington DC (a member of CABOMA then and playing in Country Haze, a mostly Bluegrass band). He now pursues Scottish, Bluegrass and some Cowboy music. He is a participant in the Scottish Session (Albuquerque) and is a member of "Dram Session", a dance band occasionally supporting a Scottish Country Dance session in ABQ. He also is a member of Independence Creek, a trio performing traditional and original music mostly in folk and bluegrass genres. He plays fiddle and mandolin, occasionally bass and guitar. He currently is a student of Dr Melinda Crawford Perttu, associate professor of music at Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA, studying Scottish fiddle.

He and his wife are retired and live near Albuquerque, NM.
