Old folkie and mountain dulcimer player, born in Connecticut, brought up in Florida, resident in Toronto since 1968. Retired hospital worker. Singer (baritone) in Common Thread Community Chorus. Fan of old-time cross-tuned fiddle music, some bluegrass; also Cape Breton, eastern Ontario, Quebecois, Metis, and Cajun playing. Never took up the fiddle myself but the mountain dulcimer was adapted by Scotch-Irish settlers in the Appalachians from Pennsylvania German zitters, to play fiddle tunes on an instrument a reasonable skilled carpenter could build. I'd like to try some of these.
