There were two Lord Bellenden's that Pringle's tune may have referred to: John Ker Bellenden of Broughton , 5th Lord Bellenden (1751–1796) or Robert Bellenden, 6th Lord Bellenden (1734–1797)--the tenure of the latter lasting only a year.
