Back to Isla Reel (1) (The)
ISLA REEL, THE. AKA and see "Mason's Apron (The)." Scottish, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Alburger): ABCD (McGlashan). The melody appears in Alexander McGlashan's (173?-1797) second book of fiddle tunes. McGlashan's name does not appear on the tunes in the book, only on the title page, however, Alburger (1983) speculates he may be the composer. A version of the melody appears in McGlashan's first collection (c. 1780-81) under the title "Braes of Glenorchy (1)."
