This was a transcription from the 1965 McGann/Joe Burke/Felix Dolan LP ''A Tribute to Michael Coleman.'' McGann's source was Larry Redican, who was fond of the key of F (flute players usually play this tune in G). Having no name, McGann and Burke christened the tune "Kathleen's Fiddle" after Burke's then-wife Kathleen Collins. When the LP was re-issued as a CD, Burke annulled that name in favor of "The Clogger's Quilt." According to sleeve notes to Mick O'Grady and Jesse Smith's CD "At My Grandmother's Knee and Other Joints," the tune was composed by Tom Redican, father of Larry Redican, and the original title was "Corrie Hellie." Smith's source for this information was Brendan Mulvihill.
