LEVIATHAN HORNPIPE [2]. American, Hornpipe (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This "Leviathan Hornpipe" was first printed in Boston music publisher Elias Howe's Ryan's Mammoth Collection, edited by Howe employee William Bradbury Ryan. Howe had earlier used the name for another piece (see ""Leviathan Hornpipe (1)") but the two tunes are musically unrelated. The first stain of "Leviathan Hornpipe (2)" is shared variantly with a rather large family of hornpipes, whose most famous member is "Off to California (1)/Going to California."
