Irish, Scottish, Old Time; Hornpipe.USA; Arkansas, Missouri. G Major (Kerr): D Major (Sweet): F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The title appears in a list of traditional Ozark Mountain fiddle tunes compiled by musicologist/folklorist Vance Randolph, published in 1954. “Zig-Zag Hornpipe” is one of the ‘100 essential Missouri fiddle tunes’ according toMissouri fiddler Charlie Walden. The tune shares the signal melodic theme of the opening measure of the second strain with numerous other melodies (listed as "AKA and see").
