FINNEGAN'S DREAM. AKA and see "Auld Bessy," "Garryowen," "Daughters of Erin," "Scotch Laddie (The)." American, Jig or March. USA, southwestern Pa. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. An originally Irish tune usually known as "Garryowen," that was known to southwestern Pennsylvania fiddlers and fifers as "The Scotch Laddie" or "Finnegan's Dream," although the "Garryowen" title was well-known in the United States.

Source for notated version: Thomas Patterson (Elizabeth, Pa., 1930's) [Bayard]. Patterson was a fiddler and a professor-colleague of Samuel Bayards at Penn State. He was born and raised in Elizabeth, Pa., and learned tunes from his father, Eben Patterson.
