WILLIAM IRWIN'S QUICKSTEP. English, Quickstep or March (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune is contained in the c. 1850 music manuscript of Lake District musician William Irwin (No. 47). The first part is cognate with the French-Canadian "Parti de Saratoga," which in turn is linked to the "Saratoga Quadrilles" composed in the first half of the 19th century.
