O! FOR ONE AND TWENTY (O Ma M-Bideann Aon's Ficio!). AKA - "O for ane-and-twenty Tam." Irish, Scottish; Air (6/8 time, "gaily"). D Minor/Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune is called "Moudiewart (The)" (The Mole) to which Robert Burns set his lyric "O for ane-and-twenty Tam." The tune, at least as published in Johnson's Scots Musical Museum, was not quite the to Burns's liking and he recommended to Thomson to publish the song in strathspey rhythm (Emmerson, 1971).
