MISS DUNBAR OF NORTHFIELD'S FAVORITE. Scottish, Reel (cut time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABCCD. Sir Archibald Dunbar, 6th Baronet (1772–1847), was laird of Northfield at the time fiddler-composer William Christie published his collection in 1820 (see Christie's "Sir Archibald Dunbar of Northfield's Strathspey"). "Miss Dunbar of Northfield's" was composed probably for one of his numerous daughters: Helen, Margaret, Georgina, Louisa, Emilia, Jane or Margaret Alicia.
