Soucy researcher Jean Duval notes that this quadrille series was the first time that Soucy was paired on recording with accordion player Donal Lafluer, with whom he enjoyed a long recording partnership. The tune itself is better known nowadays as "Reel de Gaspé/Gaspé Reel (1)," but Duval points out that "Quadrille du peuple 1ère partie" is the first time the tune is heard on a recording[1]. The third part is grafted on and is from the Scottish reel "Money Musk/Monymusk," well known in Quebec.
