QUADRILLE DU PEUPLE 1ÈRE PARTIE. French-Canadian, Quadrille or Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCC. Soucy researcher Jean Duval notes that this quadrille series was the first time that Soucy was paired on recording with accordion player Donal Lafluer, with whom he enjoyed a long recording partnership. The tune itself is better known nowadays as "Reel de Gaspé/Gaspé Reel (1)," but Duval points out that "Quadrille du peuple 1ère partie" is the first time the tune is heard on a recording[1]. The third part is grafted on and is from the Scottish reel "Money Musk/Monymusk," well known in Quebec.
