Composed by Canadian radio and TV entertainer and fiddler wikipedia:Don_Messer (1909-1973), originally from Tweedside, New Brunswick. Souris is a town in Kings County, in the east of Prince Edward Island. Messer broadcast for years from CFCY radio in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, where he was music director in the years his band was gaining renown.



Souris lighthouse was built in 1880 and still functions to guide the ferry and other vessels between Souris and the Magdalen Islands.
