SPORTING PAT [1]. Irish, Reel. A Dorian ('A' part) & G Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. No relation to “Sporting Paddy” [1] or [2]. The reel is probably cognate with “Copperplate (1) (The)” (despite the difference in tonality in the first strain), albeit with parts reversed. Breathnach (1963) disagrees with O’Neill that it is also a variant of “Rakish Paddy.”
